There's nothing quite as magical as welcoming a new member into your family. From their tiny fingers to their adorable little toes, every moment with a newborn is precious and fleeting. It's no wonder that many parents want to freeze these moments in time with a newborn photoshoot. But when is the best time to book one?

The Early Bird Catches the Cutest Coo

First things first, let's talk timing. Newborn photoshoots are all about capturing that fleeting newborn stage when they're at their squishiest and sleepiest. Typically, the best time to schedule a newborn photoshoot is within the first two weeks of life, ideally between 5-14 days old. Why so early? Well, newborns are at their most sleepy and curly during this time, making them easier to pose and photograph. Plus, those adorable newborn features are still fresh and new, making for some seriously heart-melting shots!

Planning Makes Perfect

Now that we know when to book, let's talk about when to plan. It's never too early to start thinking about your newborn photoshoot. In fact, it's a good idea to book your session while you're still pregnant to ensure you secure a spot with your preferred photographer. Many photographers recommend scheduling your session during your second trimester to avoid any last-minute stress.

Flexibility is Key

While we aim for the first two weeks, babies have their own schedules, and sometimes they arrive fashionably late or early. Don't stress if your little one doesn't stick to the timeline! I completely understand this and don’t actually confirm the time and date of your photoshoot until after baby is born. This of course means that the sooner you let me know that little one has arrived the better. I do make sure to keep open a few appointment slots a week open around your due date to make sure that if you have booked in advance to have a photoshoot with me that you don’t have to wait.
